English abstract

The story of this experience is based on the idea of ​​rethinking the University Library not only as a Documentation Center reserved for the acquisition and conservation of the specialized intellectual heritage, but as a cultural institution with an integrated approach towards the community. From this reflection arises in 2014 the need to create a new collection, which is called "Recreational Literature". It is formed largely by community donations. The number and variety of copies received exceed expectations and the physical space available to accommodate them. After the inauguration of this new space, the problem arises as to what to do with the surplus. Faced with this situation, an action is planned that promotes the accessibility and diffusion of this material. From there arises the campaign that is called "Free Books" the same one is developed during the month of April of 2016 with a release of books of diverse subjects in public places of university city. This activity is carried out within the framework of the International Movement BookCrossing which allows the registration of each book released in a global database through the assignment of a BICID identification code that allows the localization of the work at an international level and thus a geographical tracking of each book. This movement is part of the philosophy of exchange that underlies the use of information technologies, the internet, and especially social networks. Its expansion has generated other original phenomena such as StrettBook, BookRelay and BookMooch. It is concluded that this action of BookCrossing within a Academic and Specialized Library, is novel for the community, not only for the unpublished but for its creative, inclusive and extensionist character

En el relato de esta experiencia se parte de la concepción de repensar a la Biblioteca Universitaria no sólo como un Centro de Documentación reservado a la adquisición y conservación del patrimonio intelectual especializado, sino como una institución de carácter cultural con una mirada integradora hacia la comunidad. A partir de esta reflexión surge en 2014 la necesidad de crear una nueva colección, a la que se la denomina “Literatura Recreativa”. La misma se forma en gran parte por donaciones de la comunidad. La cantidad y variedad de ejemplares recibidos superan las expectativas y el espacio físico dispuesto para albergarlos. Posterior a la inauguración de este nuevo espacio, surge la problemática respecto a qué hacer con el excedente. Ante esta situación se planifica una acción que promueve la accesibilidad y difusión de este material. De allí surge la campaña que se denomina “Libros Libres” la misma se desarrolla durante el mes de Abril de 2016 con una suelta de libros de diversas temáticas en lugares públicos de ciudad universitaria. Esta actividad se realiza en el marco del Movimiento Internacional BookCrossing el cual permite el registro de cada libro liberado en una base de datos global a través de la asignación de un código de identificación BICID que permite la localización de la obra a nivel internacional y realizar así un seguimiento geográfico de cada libro. Este movimiento forma parte de la filosofía de intercambio que subyace en el uso de las tecnologías de la información, internet, y sobre todo las redes sociales. Su expansión ha generado otros fenómenos originales como el de StrettBook, BookRelay y BookMooch. Se concluye que esta acción de BookCrossing dentro de una Biblioteca Académica y Especializada, resulta novedosa para la comunidad, no sólo por lo inédita sino por su carácter creativo, inclusivo y extensionista
