English abstract

A survey carried out by the Institut d'Estadística de Catalunya (Idescat) and the Asociación Multisectorial de la Información (Asedie) under the project "Assessing the situation of the markets for electronic information services in the European Economic Area" (MSStudy Il) for the DGXIlI of the European Commission. September 1999. OBJECTIVE. To investigate the current information usage pattems and trends -specially in electronic media- in pharmaceutical laboratories. The exercise has been realized as a case study for MSStudy Il, and the pharmaceutical laboratories have been chosen because they constitute one of the industries more information-intensive, and because they are a set of companies relatively homogeneous that allow an uniform treatment.
