English abstract

Infodiversity emerged as a need to encompass and characterize the several information manifestations. On a scenario like an internet, information gets new dimensions, and the discourses can be expanded. Also, the internet can foster freedoms and rights as well as develop new threats and enhance many mechanisms of control, restriction, and surveillance. The first three chapters of the book trace the paths of free access to information on the internet from an infodiversity perspective and examine the different stakeholders that shape free access to information, it also explores the materiality of the internet. The final chapter proposes information policies for the developt of the internet infodiversity.

Spanish abstract

La infodiversidad emergió como una necesidad para englobar y caracterizar a las expresiones, variaciones y múltiples representaciones del conocimiento. En un escenario como Internet, la información adquiere nuevas dimensiones, los discursos se amplifican, las libertades se expanden a la par que nuevas amenazas surgen como mecanismos de control, restricción y vigilancia. Esta obra analiza el libre acceso a la información desde la óptica de la infodiversidad en Internet, se describen los actores involucrados en esta cadena, se plantean nuevos elementos de estudio para la infodiversidad y, finalmente, se establecen políticas de información encaminadas a su desarrollo.
