English abstract

Wikimedia Commons has become a reference repository for old photography, due to the development of projects to release digitized material by memory institutions. These materials can be used,modified and distributed freely, facilitating culture access and enjoyment, scientific research, and cultural creation. This work deals with the OpenGLAM notion and projects, the activities that are carried out in Wikimedia Commons, and the characteristics and problematic of the information and archival management of the material.

Wikimedia Commons se ha convertido en un repositorio de referencia para los fondos de fotografía antigua, merced al desarrollo de proyectos de liberación de material digitalizado por parte de instituciones de la memoria. Estos materiales pueden usarse, modificarse y distribuirse libremente, facilitando el acceso y disfrute cultural, la investigación científica, y la creación cultural. Este trabajo aborda la idea y proyectos OpenGLAM, las actividades que se llevan a cabo en Wikimedia Commons, y las características y problemática del tratamiento documental de los fondos.
