English abstract

The mission of the Little Free Library movement is to promote literacy and the love of reading by building Little Citizen Libraries for the exchange of free books around the world. A Little Free Library is a wooden box made from recycled materials painted in bright colors that is placed in a passing place and serves as a book exchange point, and as a meeting space for people who not only share books altruistically, but also develop a sense of community among their neighbors. Let's see how these peculiar libraries work in Ecuador.

La misión del movimiento Little Free Library es promover la alfabetización y el amor por la lectura mediante la construcción de pequeñas bibliotecas ciudadanas para el intercambio de libros gratis en todo el mundo. Una pequeña biblioteca libre es una caja de madera hecha con materiales reciclados pintados de vistosos colores que se coloca en un lugar de paso y sirve como punto de intercambio de libros, y como un espacio de encuentro para las personas que no solo comparten libros de manera altruista, sino que también desarrollan un sentido de comunidad entre sus vecinos. Veamos cómo funcionan estas peculiares bibliotecas en Ecuador.
