English abstract

"I am unpacking my library. Yes, it is. It is not yet on the shelves, it is not yet covered by the silent tedium of order. Nor can I go wandering through its shelves and inspecting each book while in the company of a pleasant audience. Fear not, for none of that awaits you. I must ask you to transport yourself with me mentally to the disorder of half-open boxes, to the particles of wood floating in the air, to the floor covered with scraps of paper, to the piles of volumes, which are seeing the light of day again after two years of darkness, in order to share from the outset something of the feeling – not at all elegiac, but rather expectant – that books awaken in a true collector."

"Estoy desembalando mi biblioteca. Así es. No está colocada aún en la estantería, no está cubierta aún por el tedio silencioso del orden. Tampoco puedo ir paseándome por sus estantes y pasar revista a cada libro mientras estoy en compañía de un grato auditorio. No teman, pues nada de eso los espera. Les tengo que pedir que se trasladen conmigo mentalmente al desorden de cajas entreabiertas, a las partículas de madera flotando en el aire, al piso cubierto de trozos de papel, a las pilas de volúmenes, que vuelven a ver la luz del día luego de dos años de oscuridad, con el fin de compartir desde un comienzo algo de la sensación –para nada elegíaca, sino más bien expectante– que despiertan los libros en un verdadero coleccionista"
