English abstract

With the theme of our Habermas Colloquium this year, we want to continue the debates started last year around democracy, social justice and environmental sustainability. “Democracy and technology: Internet regulation and artificial intelligence in the public sphere” – with this theme we propose to revisit the normative challenges of AI and new technologies for the consolidation of a democratic public sphere increasingly dominated by digital platforms, social media and the unbridled use of algorithms to form opinions, with the risk of spreading misinformation, fake news and the manipulation of social groups that behave like human herds.
