English abstract

The irruption and rapid consolidation of ChatGPT has promoted a series of initiatives related to artificial intelligence (AI) that is constantly growing. The automated generation of text, video and images –with just a few basic instructions– invites us to address new scenarios for the generation of content and, consequently, new visibility strategies in cyberspace. This report explores different journalistic experiences (investigation, teaching and online media) with generative AI tools and engines with special emphasis on ChatGPT. For this, a case study is carried out with the 78 publications made by CNET, through CNET Money, which were written by an artificial intelligence engine. The results allow us to understand the types of content written, as well as their advantages and disadvantages (including the need for multiple manual corrections). In addition, the conclusions allow us to understand how conversational AI is more of a support than a threat to traditional journalistic activity.

La irrupción y rápida consolidación de ChatGPT ha impulsado una serie de iniciativas relacionadas con una inteligencia artificial (IA) que está en constante crecimiento. La generación de texto, vídeo e imágenes automatizadas –a partir de instrucciones básicas– invita a abordar nuevos escenarios para la generación de contenido y, por consiguiente, nuevas estrategias de visibilidad en el ciberespacio. Este trabajo explora diferentes experiencias periodísticas (investigación, docencia y cibermedios) con herramientas y motores de IA generativa con especial énfasis en ChatGPT. Para ello, se realiza un estudio de caso con 78 publicaciones realizadas por CNET, a través de CNET Money, que fueron redactadas por algún motor de inteligencia artificial. Los resultados permiten comprender los tipos de contenidos redactados, así como sus ventajas y desventajas (incluyendo la necesidad de múltiples correcciones manuales). Además, las conclusiones permiten comprender cómo la IA conversacional puede ser más un apoyo que una amenaza a la actividad periodística tradicional.
