English abstract

This infographic, developed within the framework of the GEDIS project (Gender Diversity in Information Science: Challenges in Higher Education), addresses the issue of the gender citation gap in academic publishing. It introduces the problem of unequal citation practices, reviews empirical evidence from multiple disciplines, including Library and Information Science (LIS), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Medicine, and discusses the methodological challenges involved in researching citation patterns. The infographic is designed as a teaching resource to raise awareness among students, professors, and librarians about gender bias in citation practices. It highlights the broader implications for academic visibility, personal evaluation, and scientific progress, and it encourages critical reflection on how structural inequalities affect the dissemination and recognition of scholarly knowledge. This resource is part of the GEDIS Open Educational Resources (OERs) collection and can be integrated into lectures, seminars, and workshops on bibliometrics, gender studies, academic publishing, and information science.

Bosnian abstract

Ova infografika, razvijena u okviru projekta GEDIS (Gender Diversity in Information Science), bavi se pitanjem rodnog jaza u citiranju u akademskom izdavaštvu. Pojašnjava problem nejednakih praksi citiranja, prikazuje empirijske dokaze iz više disciplina, uključujući bibliotečke i informacijske nauke (LIS), obradu prirodnog jezika (NLP) i medicinu, te razmatra metodološke izazove u istraživanju obrazaca citiranja. Infografika je osmišljena kao nastavni resurs s ciljem podizanja svijesti među studentima/cama, profesorima/cama i bibliotekarima/kama o rodnoj pristrasnosti u praksama citiranja. Naglašava šire implikacije za akademsku vidljivost, ličnu evaluaciju i naučni napredak, te potiče kritičko promišljanje o tome kako strukturalne nejednakosti utiču na širenje i prepoznavanje naučnog znanja. Ovaj resurs je dio zbirke GEDIS otvorenih obrazovnih resursa (OER) i može se integrisati unutar predavanja, seminara i radionica o bibliometriji, rodnim studijama, akademskom izdavaštvu i informacijskim naukama.
