English abstract

Purpose: Digital transformation refers to a systematic, technology-driven, goal-oriented, and outcome-focused set of agile, fundamental changes within organizations. This study aims to identify the dimensions and components of digital transformation in public libraries. Methods: To explore the macro-level components of digital transformation in public libraries, this research employed a systematic review approach. The methodological framework was designed by integrating established guidelines and applying content coding and narrative analysis techniques. The data sources included scholarly articles, reports, book chapters, and relevant theses published between 2015 and 2024, collected from reputable domestic and international databases. The selection process involved four stages: identification, screening, content review, and final evaluation, resulting in 39 qualified sources. Data were coded and categorized across three levels, and findings were interpreted through narrative analysis. This approach enabled the precise extraction of digital transformation dimensions and the development of a conceptual framework for advancing public libraries in the digital age. Results: Digital transformation comprises two primary dimensions, technical and social, and encompasses 10 networks and 33 components. Unless all these networks (including phygital space, technology, infrastructure, resources, services, co-creation, governance, stakeholders, value, and risk management) are transformed, digital transformation in public libraries cannot be fully realized. Conclusions: Digital transformation is a necessity for public libraries, but its success depends on adopting a network-based approach. Therefore, the successful realization of digital transformation in public libraries requires a holistic perspective that integrates technology with organizational culture, social participation, and innovative governance models.
