Sabancı Üniversitesi Bilgi Merkezi'nde Dijital Koleksiyonlar:Bir Uygulama Örneği

Abstract(s)

Digital collections have had an important impact on the information world. Sabanci University Information Center aims more to provide access to information resources than to own them, and so gives particular importance to digital information. This principle has been a determining factor in the development of the collection, the choice of teaching and learning materials and the planning of services offered to users. In this context, the Information Centre has developed an umbrella "digital collection" which includes "E-Journal; E-Thesis; E-Lit; E-Reserve, Slides (Art History Slide Collection; Otoman Image Collection); Newspaper Clipping of University History Collection and Table of Contents of Books". This study describes the development of a slide collection: its creation, development and organization, and the difficulties encountered during these stages; its current state and aims for the future; its role in supporting curriculum development and the work/studies undertaken to carry out these tasks.

Dijital koleksiyonlar, günümüzde bilgi dünyasına damgasını vuran ögelerden birisidir. Bilgi kaynaklarına sahip olmak yerine erişimi hedefleyen Sabancı Üniversitesi Bilgi Merkezi, gerek koleksiyon geliştirme ilkelerini saptarken ve gerekse kullanıcıya verilecek hizmetlerin planlamasını yaparken dijital bilgiye, ders programlarını destekleyici materyal üretimi amacı ile oluşturulan çalışmalara özel bir önem vermiştir. Bu çerçevede Bilgi Merkezi, dijital koleksiyonlar şemsiyesi altında "E-Book; E-Journal; E-Thesis; E-Lit; E-Reserve, Slides (Art History Slide Collection; Otoman Image Collection); Newspaper Clipping of University History Collection ve Table of Contents of Books" adları ile çeşitli dijital koleksiyonlar oluşturulmuştur. Bu çalışmada anılan dijital koleksiyonlardan biri olan slayt koleksiyonunun oluşumu, gelişimi, organizasyonu, karşılaşılan zorluklar, bugünkü durumu ve geleceğe yönelik hedefler ile kullanıcı hizmetleri açısından ders programlarını desteklemedeki rolü ve bu amaçla yürütülen çalışmalar verilmiştir.
