English abstract

The present document is concerned about the origin, name designation and actors involved in a networked society. Describes the kind of information professional this emerging society requires to satisfy their user's needs. Also makes some approaches of the role the information professional has to play in an environment composed of information and communication technologies, new ways of content delivery and information transfer, revolutions in the telecommunication industries and the readjustments of the information industry, commerce and economy.

Spanish abstract

El presente documento desarrolla el tema de la sociedad interconectada por redes en torno al debate desde su origen, denominación, los actores que intervienen, así como las estrategias para alcanzar este tipo de sociedad y el perfil del profesional de la información en este nuevo entorno. Se aborda el papel que debe asumir el profesional de la información ante la evolución de las tecnologías de la información y de la comunicación, las nuevas formas de transferencia de información y de contenidos, las revoluciones en las telecomunicaciones y la conformación de monopolios en la industria y el comercio de la información.
