English abstract

Total Quality Management (TQM) is the theory that deals with the administrative methods of an organization, as a unique total. For the application of its principles in the filed of libraries, the collection of data that concerns the evaluation of provided services, is required. This article refers in the application of evaluation processes in the sector of cataloging. The definition of quality in cataloging, with special focus in the users opinion, is been reported. Finally, the application of W. E. Deming’s theory in Cataloging Department, is been examined.

H Διοίκηση Ολικής Ποιότητας (TQM) είναι η θεωρία που αναφέρεται στις μεθόδους διοίκησης του συνόλου, αλλά και των μερών, ενός οργανισμού. Για την εφαρμογή των αρχών της ποιότητας στον χώρο των βιβλιοθηκών, απαιτείται η συλλογή δεδομένων που αφορούν την αξιολόγηση των παρεχομένων υπηρεσιών. Το άρθρο αυτό αναφέρεται στην εφαρμογή των διαδικασιών αξιολόγησης στον τομέα της καταλογογράφησης. Εξετάζει τον ορισμό της έννοιας της ποιότητας στην καταλογογράφηση, επικεντρώνοντας στις απόψεις των χρηστών. Τέλος αναφέρεται στην δυνατότητα εφαρμογής των 14 Σημείων του Deming στο Τμήμα Καταλογογράφησης.
