English abstract

A sound data communications infrastructure and the availability of information sources in digital formats are of the two basic requirements for the provision of library and information services over the Internet. Policies to be developed in this area are closely associated with how it is, and using what sources, that those requirements are satisfied. This paper deals with the networked library and information policies from the viewpoints of both technology and “contents”, reviews the studies in Turkey in this context and offers some recommendations.

Bir ülkede Internet aracılığıyla kütüphane ve bilgi hizmetlerinin verilebilmesi için sağlam bir veri iletişim alt yapısının kurulmuş olması ve ağ aracılığıyla iletilecek bilgilerin elektronik ortamda bulunması gerekmektedir. Bu alanda geliştirilecek politikalar bu iki temel koşulun nasıl ve hangi kaynaklar kullanılarak yerine getirileceği ile yakından ilişkilidir. Bu makalede ağ aracılığıyla bilgi hizmetleri verme politikası hem teknolojik açıdan hem de “içerik” açısından ele alınmakta, Türkiye’deki çalışmalar kısaca gözden geçirilmekte ve bazı önerilerde bulunulmaktadır.
