English abstract
This Open Educational Resource (OER), entitled Gender Inequalities in Library and Information Science (LIS), was developed within the framework of the European project GEDIS – Gender Diversity in Information Science: Challenges in Higher Education. Its main goal is to present current challenges and persistent inequalities between women and men in the field of Library and Information Science, while proposing innovative approaches to foster equality, diversity, and an inclusive academic environment. The material highlights systemic barriers that continue to hinder women’s career progression in LIS, despite their numerical majority in study programmes. It identifies key areas of inequality—research and publication practices, professional roles, and the broader European context—and connects them to current European Union initiatives such as She Figures and other reports promoting structural change in academia. The OER also includes discussion prompts and reflective questions designed to encourage critical thinking about gender equality within higher education. It is primarily aimed at university teachers and students in the field of Library and Information Science who wish to deepen their understanding of gender disparities and actively contribute to their reduction through education and innovative pedagogical practices. Sources and recommended readings are drawn from up-to-date academic research, including bibliometric analyses of gender differences in LIS and case studies of universities integrating gender and LGBTQ perspectives into their curricula.

Ovaj otvoreni obrazovni resurs (Open Educational Resource - OER) pod nazivom Rodne nejednakosti u bibliotečkim i informacijskim naukama (LIS), razvijen je u okviru evropskog projekta GEDIS – Gender Diversity in Information Science: Challenges in Higher Education. Glavni cilj ovog resursa je da se predstave savremeni izazovi i postojane nejednakosti između žena i muškaraca u oblasti bibliotečkih i informacijskih nauka, te da se ponude inovativni pristupi za poticanje jednakosti, raznolikosti i inkluzivnosti unutar akademskog okruženja. U OER-u se ukazuje na sistemske prepreke koje i dalje ograničavaju napredovanje žena u karijeri unutar LIS-a, uprkos njihovoj brojčanoj dominaciji u studijskim programima. Identificiraju se i ključna područja nejednakosti - prakse naučnih istraživanja i akademskog publiciranja, kao i profesionalne uloge, ali i širi evropski kontekst - i povezuje ih se sa aktuelnim inicijativama Evropske unije, poput izvještaja She Figures i drugih izvještaja koji promovišu strukturne promjene u akademskom sektoru. Ovaj OER također sadrži pitanja za razmišljanje i diskusiju, osmišljena s ciljem poticanja kritičkog mišljenja o rodnoj ravnopravnosti u visokom obrazovanju. Namijenjen je prvenstveno univerzitetskim nastavnicima/ama i studentima/cama iz oblasti bibliotečkih i informacijskih nauka, koji žele produbiti razumijevanje rodnih razlika i aktivno doprinijeti njihovom smanjenju kroz obrazovanje i inovativne pedagoške prakse. Izvori i preporučena literatura zasnivaju se na aktuelnim akademskim istraživanjima, uključujući bibliometrijske analize rodnih razlika u LIS-u i studije slučaja univerziteta koji integriraju rodne i LGBTQ perspektive u svoje nastavne planove i programe.
